Learning about democracy
How do Grade 5 students grasp the workings of democracy, its significance, and key election terms? At Akanksha’s Abhyudaya Nagar school, they live it. Through role-play, students became candidates, voters, and election officials. Candidates shared their manifestos, voters cast ballots, and officials ensured fair voting. They followed key steps like registration, secret ballot voting, and vote counting. This hands-on activity taught them terms like nomination, campaigning, and voting. It also showed why free and fair elections matter. Along the way, they built public speaking, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
